A beach hotel and the Costa Maya cruise port are not the same stop
Mahahual’s seafront, beach accommodations and the Costa Maya cruise port serve different journeys. If you are staying at a hotel, give its actual location. If your plans involve a cruise, specify the port and itinerary; do not use a hotel transfer as though it automatically includes access to the cruise terminal.
Ask your cruise operator for boarding and meeting instructions, and tell us the required drop-off before booking. Check whether your flight leaves enough time to clear the airport and drive from Cancun before the boarding deadline.
Know where your coastal accommodation is
A property advertised as being in Mahahual may be in the main seafront area or along a coastal road away from it. Check the address and arrival instructions with your hotel or host. The meeting point for reception may also differ from the name of a beach area that appears on a map.
If the exact accommodation does not appear in the suggestions, contact us before confirming. Do not select another hotel or a generic landmark as a substitute. This is particularly useful for smaller beach properties, rentals and places where access needs to be explained in advance. The quoted destination should be the place expecting your arrival.
Arrive first, explore the seafront after
Mahahual combines a Caribbean beach setting with a walkable seafront in its central area. After reaching your accommodation, leave time to discover where you are staying and how to access the beach. Ask locally about the current conditions for swimming and any activities you would like to arrange.
Diving, snorkeling and trips farther along Costa Maya are separate experiences, not part of an airport fare. Their schedules and meeting points should be checked with the activity operator. A relaxed first day is easier to plan than a fixed boat departure immediately after your flight and the drive south.

Check passenger and luggage space when choosing a vehicle for this long drive. If you are comparing a bus journey, add the cost of all tickets and any ride needed from its last stop to your hotel.
