Three separate parts of a Cozumel arrival
If you land at Cancun Airport and continue to Cozumel, plan the road journey, the passenger ferry crossing and the trip from the island terminal to your accommodation. This booking covers the first part: a private vehicle to the Playa del Carmen passenger ferry area on the mainland. It does not take you by road to an island hotel.
Keep the ground-transfer reservation separate from your ferry ticket and Cozumel accommodation details. Review each meeting point and itinerary in sequence, so your plans account for the connections between services as well as the journeys themselves.
Your mainland arrival beside central Playa del Carmen
The passenger ferry area is by Parque Fundadores, where Avenida Benito Juarez reaches Playa del Carmen's waterfront. It places the connection in the coastal center, with Fifth Avenue's restaurants and shops part of the surrounding city. If you have time before boarding, a nearby meal is easier to fit around luggage and a sailing than an excursion away from the terminal.
Ultramar identifies its mainland terminal as NAVEGA on Avenida Benito Juarez. Use Ferry to Cozumel for the road booking and follow the meeting details for the vehicle-access point. The terminal area is for the passenger connection; taking a vehicle on a car ferry is a different journey.
Work backward from the crossing, with room to spare
A landing time is not a road departure time. Airport formalities, baggage collection and meeting the vehicle all happen before the drive to Playa del Carmen. Road traffic, getting from the drop-off point to the passenger terminal and the ferry operator's boarding requirements add further time.
Check departures with the ferry operator and leave time between landing and boarding. If you plan to catch the last ferry, decide what you would do if your flight runs late. Tickets and availability for each sailing are handled by the ferry company.
Ferry tickets and terminal access are separate
Book your ferry tickets separately with your chosen operator and check its boarding times and luggage allowance. We handle your road transfer; the ferry operator handles the crossing. Keep both confirmations handy for a smoother connection.

Compare the mainland journey using the same endpoint
For the Cancun Airport to Playa del Carmen leg, compare a private transfer, airport taxi or a bus journey against the passenger terminal as the endpoint. If taking a bus, check the current stop and the connection to the ferry area. Include everyone traveling and all onward costs before comparing with the quoted private vehicle.

Arriving in San Miguel on Cozumel
The passenger ferry arrives in San Miguel. Ultramar gives Avenida Rafael Melgar as its island terminal address. There are restaurants and shops along the waterfront. Check whether your hotel is in town or needs another ride before planning your first afternoon.
For a stay centered on diving or an excursion, identify the boat's actual departure pier as well as your accommodation. The passenger ferry terminal is a useful arrival landmark, but it is not automatically the meeting point for every island activity. Your island ride is arranged separately from the CAT mainland fare, using the hotel's complete name and address.
Return from Cozumel before the airport pickup
For a return flight from Cancun, plan the journey from your Cozumel accommodation to the island terminal, the sailing back to Playa del Carmen, disembarkation and the mainland pickup. The CAT return begins on the mainland, so its pickup time should reflect when you can reach the agreed meeting point after the ferry.
Check the ferry schedule and how early your airline requires you at the airport. If weather or an operator change affects the crossing, contact us with your booking reference to review the land pickup. The ferry and road transfer have separate schedules and conditions.
People, luggage and the details to have ready
Include children in the passenger count and review vehicle luggage capacity, especially if you bring diving equipment, strollers or large cases. Ferry baggage rules are separate from the vehicle allowance; check both before you pack. Contact each provider about mobility needs or assistance between the road and sea journeys.
Save your ground reservation reference, CAT's contact details, airport meeting instructions and ferry information where you can access them while traveling.
