At Xcaret, you can swim through underground rivers and stay for México Espectacular that evening. Set aside a full day if you want both. The park is south of Playa del Carmen, so a visit from Cancun also needs travel time at each end.
You can visit Maya ruins inside Cancun’s Hotel Zone, see sculptures underwater or spend a full day at Xcaret. Choose according to the time you have and whether you want to get in the water. These outings need quite different plans.
